Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is widely considered to be the best in the world. But how did this small island nation come to produce such revered coffee? It all started in the early 18th century, when the first coffee plants were brought to Jamaica from Martinique. These plants quickly thrived in the ideal growing conditions of the Blue Mountains, and soon Jamaican coffee was being exported to other parts of the Caribbean. In 1728, the British Governor of Jamaica declared that only coffee grown in the Blue Mountains could be exported, in an effort to preserve the quality of Jamaican coffee. This decree helped to further cement the reputation of Blue Mountain coffee, and by the 19th century, it was being shipped to Europe and North America. Today, Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is still prized for its unique flavor and aromatics, and it continues to be one of the most sought-after coffees in the world.
We exclusively use Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans in our coffee-based drinks. Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is world-renowned for its rich flavor, distinct aroma, and unparalleled quality control. The coffee beans are grown in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica at altitudes of 3,000 to 5,500 feet, where they benefit from the perfect combination of fertile volcanic soils, regular rainfall, and a cool misty climate. Due to its geography and cooler weather conditions, the beans take 2x as long to grow, resulting in beans that are dense and flavorful. This combination of factors creates a coffee that is sweet, full-bodied, and well-balanced, unlike any other. So next time you’re enjoying a cup at our shop, you can be confident that you’re tasting coffee that is highly prized around the world.
